In Jharkhand, approximately 15,000 to 17,000 women are exiting the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana (MMMSY) every month after crossing the scheme's upper age limit of 50 years. The scheme provides a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to eligible women aged between 18 and 50 years. The process of removal is part of routine monthly verification based on the data uploaded on the MMMSY portal.
Beneficiary details, including birth dates and other essential information, are recorded and maintained on the portal. Each month, district-level officials verify the age of all enrolled beneficiaries. Once a beneficiary turns 50, she becomes ineligible for the scheme and is automatically removed from the beneficiary list. The MMMSY was launched last year with an initial monthly assistance of ₹1,000, which was later revised to ₹2,500.
To be eligible for the scheme, a woman must be a resident of Jharkhand, aged between 18 and 50 years, possess an Aadhaar-linked single bank account, and hold valid identification including a Voter ID and Aadhaar card. Additionally, the applicant’s family must be covered under the state’s Antyodaya Anna Yojana and hold a ration card issued under the scheme.
Women who become ineligible due to age are allowed to apply for the state-run Sarvajan Pension Yojana. Under this scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹1,000 per month. However, enrollment is not automatic, and women must submit a separate application to be included. The Sarvajan Pension Yojana is also administered by the Government of Jharkhand and is open to citizens above a certain age limit regardless of their background.
As of May 2025, about 51.10 lakh women received benefits under the Maiya Samman Yojana. The Directorate of Social Security has issued orders for the disbursement of June payments, and the process has begun at the district level. The state government has allocated ₹9,609 crore for this scheme, which will cover payments until November. The funds have already been released to the districts for disbursement.
